How Vinted calculates the fee in the UK
Vinted describes the Vinted fee as a mandatory platform fee paid at checkout. Its UK price list (last updated 8 October 2026) says the fee usually combines 3% to 8% of the item or bundle price with a fixed £0.30 to £0.80, and that it varies with the item's characteristics, the order value and whether you buy a single item or a bundle. VAT is included.
What we saw on 19 October 2026: on 384 listings from the vinted.co.uk catalogue, every fee matched one of two formulas. 257 listings showed 5% + £0.70, the usual case, and 127 showed 8% + £0.30: children's clothing and shoes, and toys such as LEGO sets.
On a £20 item, that means a fee of £1.70 (£21.70 before postage), or £1.90 for a children's item. The fixed part weighs most on cheap items: at 5% + £0.70, the fee is 19% of a £5 item but 5.7% of a £100 item.
Who pays what on Vinted UK
The buyer pays the item price, the Vinted fee and postage. The fee appears in the price breakdown of each listing and is added to the order total at checkout.
The seller receives the item price: Vinted's UK price list contains no commission on sales. The only seller fees it lists are optional visibility services (Bump and Showcase).
Optional extras for buyers, according to the same price list: Item Verification costs £10 and Electronics Verification £5.
Reselling on Vinted UK: what the rules say
Vinted's commercial selling rules for the UK say a standard account can't be used to sell items professionally, and that this includes buying or sourcing items and reselling them at a profit. If you sell on Vinted to make a profit, Vinted asks you to sign up as a Pro seller.
Vinted Pro is free and open in the UK to sole traders, charities and registered businesses (Vinted newsroom, 24 September 2026).
Some limits apply to everyone, Pro sellers included: no new stock bought specifically to resell (wholesale, bulk orders, items bought in shops), no new items listed as second-hand, and no services.
As a Pro seller, you must accept returns: the buyer has 14 days after delivery to report an issue or return the item, and your payment is released once those 14 days have passed.
What it means for your margin
If you buy to resell, your costs all come at the purchase: item price, Vinted fee and postage. Your net margin is the resale price minus that full cost, and as a Pro seller you should also allow for returns.
That is how VTD BOT works: on vinted.co.uk, every margin it shows already deducts the Vinted fee and postage.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Vinted fee in the UK?
Vinted's UK price list says usually 3% to 8% of the item price plus £0.30 to £0.80, VAT included, paid by the buyer. On the listings we checked on 19 October 2026, most items showed 5% + £0.70 (£1.70 on a £20 item) and children's items 8% + £0.30.
Do sellers pay fees on Vinted UK?
There is no commission on sales: the seller receives the item price. The only seller fees in Vinted's UK price list are optional visibility services, Bump and Showcase.
Is the Vinted fee the same for every item?
No. Vinted says the fee varies with the item's characteristics, the order value and whether you buy a single item or a bundle. The exact amount is shown in the listing's price breakdown and at checkout.
Do I need Vinted Pro to resell on Vinted UK?
According to Vinted's rules, yes: buying or sourcing items to resell them at a profit is commercial selling, which standard accounts can't do. Vinted Pro is free and available in the UK.
Can a Pro seller sell new items?
Not as commercial stock: Vinted doesn't allow new items bought specifically to resell (wholesale, bulk orders or shop purchases), and this rule applies to everyone, Pro sellers included.
Is the Vinted Buyer Protection fee the same as the Vinted fee?
Older guides and forums use the name Buyer Protection fee. On the pages we checked on 20 October 2026, Vinted's UK price list and Help Centre call the charge the Vinted fee: a mandatory platform fee paid by the buyer at checkout, which helps cover running the platform and applying the refund policy.
How do Vinted's fees compare with other platforms?
They are built differently. On Vinted the buyer pays the fee and the seller pays no commission on a sale. Depop and eBay publish their own seller fees on their own pages. Our blog article on Vinted against those platforms sets out each published fee, with the date we read it.
Is there a Vinted fee calculator?
The table on this page lists the fee for common prices, and the calculator on the page works out the total for your own price from the formulas seen on listings. Vinted shows the exact fee in the price breakdown and at checkout.
How much is postage on Vinted UK?
The buyer pays postage on top of the item price and the Vinted fee, and sees the total at checkout. Vinted's shipping page lists Evri, InPost, DPD, Royal Mail, Relay, AnyVan and DHL Express as integrated providers in the UK, and the options you can choose depend on the seller's settings (checked 20 October 2026).
