Vinted refund: how to ask for one, the deadline and what happens next

To get a Vinted refund, press I have an issue in the order's conversation screen within 2 calendar days of Vinted telling you the order should have been delivered, then explain the problem with photos. It only works for orders paid with the Buy now button. This guide covers the process on vinted.com.au (steps, returns, timing, disputes), checked on 21 October 2026.

How do you ask for a refund on Vinted?

Everything happens in the order's conversation screen:

  1. Wait for the trigger. The refund request period starts when Vinted notifies you that the order should have been delivered or seems lost.
  2. Check the order. Do not press Everything is OK yet: it completes the order and pays the seller.
  3. Press I have an issue, choose the problem and follow the steps.
  4. Add photos and details: the item and the problem, the outer and inner packaging, and any visible damage to the packaging.
  5. Say what you want. Sellers can offer a partial refund or pay for return postage, and Vinted advises you to tell them what you would like.
  6. Submit the request. The order is suspended and your payment is held safely until the issue is resolved.

Keep the packaging until the case is closed, because Vinted may ask for extra photos. Its terms suggest talking to the seller first and escalating if you cannot agree.

What is the deadline to report a problem?

You have 2 calendar days from Vinted's notice that the order should have been delivered or seems lost. If you report nothing in time, or confirm the order, the payment goes to the seller and Vinted says it cannot support you with a refund. The clock starts at the notice, not when you open the package, so open it as soon as it arrives.

The Help Centre page on chargebacks says 2 business days from the delivery date, while the terms and the refund policy say 2 calendar days. Plan around the shorter one.

The refund policy page on vinted.com.au has no Pro seller exception, and we found no separate Pro refund policy page there. For a Buy now order, follow the 2-day rule.

Which problems can you claim for?

An item you do not like or that does not fit is not SNAD, and neither are minor differences such as a slight colour change from lighting. You can ask the seller to accept a return, but it is their decision.

Returns: who pays postage, and how long do you have?

If the seller asks for the item back, press Return the order. You can use an integrated return option, get a Vinted-generated label or code, or arrange your own tracked return and share the tracking number with the seller.

On a bundle you return only the reported items, unless the whole order is SNAD. A confirmed counterfeit need not be returned.

Can you get a partial refund on Vinted?

Yes, for one situation: a single listing that is significantly not as described. The seller may offer a partial refund and let you keep the item. It covers part of the item price, as agreed, and a proportional Vinted fee, and it is not available on bundles. Vouchers and discounts are already reflected, so you get back only what you paid at checkout.

On an international order, any GST is refunded in full.

How and when does the money come back?

Vinted refunds the account you paid from. A lost, damaged or undelivered order gets a full refund: the Vinted fee, the item price and the shipping you paid. A returned item gets its price and fee plus the shipping you paid, minus return postage if you paid it. Timing depends on how you paid and starts when the order is cancelled:

Card, Apple Pay or Google PayWithin 5 business days. If it is missing, contact your bank or card servicer (and Apple Pay customer service for Apple Pay). Vinted says Google Pay does not handle refunds.
Balance plus another methodThe Balance part within hours, the rest within 5 business days. Check both places.

Business days are Monday to Friday and exclude holidays. Source: Vinted's page on receiving a refund, checked 21 October 2026.

If it still does not show, Vinted asks you to contact your bank first, then Vinted with a screenshot of your bank transactions since the order was cancelled.

What happens if you and the seller disagree?

Ask Vinted to review. In the order press View issue details, then Contact us, read the refund terms and press Agree and submit. Vinted says it replies within 48 hours.

You would not get a refund if the item is judged not SNAD, you reported too late, you gave no proof within the deadlines, you used or washed the item, or you are suspected of abusing the policy. Report only what really happened.

The terms' dispute form is for a disagreement with Vinted itself, not a seller. A chargeback with your card provider should come second: Vinted asks you to contact it first, and says disputing elsewhere before that can lead to restrictions on your account.

In Australia, use the dispute form first. With no satisfactory answer in 30 days, the next step in the terms is a notice that you want to refer it to mediation.

A buyer routine that avoids disputes

  1. Pay with Buy now and keep the conversation in the app. Without Buy now there is no cover, and Vinted says you never have to leave it to confirm a payment.
  2. Read the description, size and condition notes, and use Ask seller for anything unclear. A claim compares the item with the listing.
  3. Open every order the day it arrives and check it against the listing.
  4. If something is wrong, keep the packaging, photograph the item, the problem and the packaging, then press I have an issue inside the window.
  5. Press Everything is OK only when the item is right. If you buy to resell, do not relist before checking, and see how to buy on Vinted and resell elsewhere.

Each order has its own window, so treat a batch of purchases one by one.

Where VTD BOT fits

VTD BOT does not file or follow refunds. It alerts you when a new listing matches your saved searches (keywords, brand, size, condition, price ceiling, excluded words) and shows an estimated value from comparable listings and the real cost with the Vinted fee and postage. It never logs in to your Vinted account, never buys and never messages sellers, and its radar checks Vinted at regular intervals, not continuously.

Plans are billed monthly with no commitment: Starter is A$15, Plus is A$45 and Pro is A$59, and there is no free plan. See the pricing and the features, or read how Vinted alerts work.
