Best brands and categories to hunt on Vinted: how to choose in the UK
We will not hand you a brand ranking or a price list, because we have no verifiable data for one. What we can give you is a method for choosing brands and categories, plus the Vinted rules that change how risky each one is.

Why there is no top-10 list here
Searches like “best brands on Vinted” usually return lists with confident claims about which labels sell, and sometimes with prices. We have no public, verifiable source for either, and prices move constantly, so we do not publish them. The honest answer to “which brand should I hunt?” is the one you can test yourself, on sold data, in a category you can judge. This guide shows how.
Six criteria for choosing a brand or category
- You can identify it exactly. A brand with clear model names, style codes or labels lets you find true comparables. The harder an item is to pin down, the more your market value estimate is guesswork.
- You can authenticate it. Vinted prohibits counterfeits and asks sellers to show labels, tags, stitching, logos and other details of branded items. If you cannot tell a genuine item from a fake, stay away from that brand.
- Size matters, and you can judge it. The refund policy does not cover an item that matches its description but doesn't fit, so categories where fit is hard to judge from a photo carry more risk.
- Postage does not eat the margin. Postage is paid by the buyer on Vinted, but heavy or bulky items change the all-in cost and the choice of carrier.
- Condition is easy to read from photos. The more condition matters to the price, the more you depend on the seller's photos and honesty.
- You can check sold prices. If you cannot find what the item has actually sold for, you cannot tell whether it is underpriced. See how to find underpriced items on Vinted.
Category by category: what Vinted's own pages tell you
vinted.co.uk organises its catalogue into top-level categories such as women, men, designer, kids, home, electronics, books and media, hobbies and collectables, and sports. The table lists, for the main ones, the checks that come from Vinted's rules rather than from our opinion.
| Category | What to check, according to Vinted's pages |
|---|---|
| Designer and branded clothing, shoes and bags | Vinted asks for photos of logos, labels, stitching, care tags and other details, and asks sellers to prove authenticity for luxury items. Counterfeits are prohibited and listings offering them are removed. If an item is confirmed counterfeit, you do not have to return it to get a refund. |
| Electronics | Vinted requires sellers to disconnect linked accounts and factory reset a device before postage it, and says to remove locks such as Activation Lock. Ask the seller to confirm and show it. Be careful with devices tied to an account. |
| Books, media, hobbies and collectables | Check the edition, condition and any codes shown in the photos, and ask for photos of the exact copy. Vinted's rules prohibit counterfeits in every category. |
| Home and bulky items | Vinted says postage rates depend on the package size and on the buyer's and seller's locations, and the buyer pays postage. Check dimensions and weight before you count the margin. |
This table lists checks, not predictions about prices or demand.
In the UK, Vinted also lists children's items at a different fee. On the listings we checked on 19 October 2026, children's clothing and shoes, and toys such as LEGO sets, showed 8% + £0.30 instead of the usual 5% + £0.70. Item Verification, an optional service for eligible designer listings, is available in the UK (£10 per item according to the UK price list), and Electronics Verification costs £5.
How to build your shortlist
- List ten brands or product families you can recognise and describe accurately.
- For each one, look up recent sold prices (on eBay, the Sold items filter and its 90-day window are a start) and write a low and high range for the size and condition you would buy.
- Follow those brands in your Vinted profile so that the feed recommends them, and save the searches.
- Set a maximum all-in price for each, after the Vinted fee and postage.
- Keep notes for a month: which searches produced candidates, which candidates you bought, what you paid, what happened.
- Drop the brands where you never find a listing below your ceiling, and widen the ones where you do.
Following brands matters because Vinted lets you personalise your feed by categories, sizes and followed brands, although it says it is not yet possible to personalise every category feed. For those, browse the subcategory and save searches instead.
Mistakes that cost money when hunting
- Paying outside Vinted. A payment made without the Buy now button is not covered by the refund policy.
- Ignoring the fixed part of the fee on cheap items. On the usual formula the fee is about 19% of an item priced at £5, against 5.7% of one priced at £100, so low-price hunting needs bundles or higher margins.
- Buying a branded item without label photos. Vinted tells buyers to buy branded items only if the seller can reasonably prove authenticity.
- Comparing the wrong version. Check the style code, colour and size against the comparable you found, not only the brand name.
- Forgetting the return rule. An item that matches its description but doesn't fit is not eligible for a refund under the policy.
Where a tool helps, and where it doesn't
A bot can do the repetitive part: watching your saved criteria and telling you when a listing appears, with an estimated market value and the net cost after the fee and postage. VTD BOT does that on vinted.co.uk. It cannot judge authenticity for you, check a defect in a photo, or know whether a brand is about to go out of fashion. For those, you still need to look at the listing yourself. See the features and pricing, and read about alerts on Vinted before you choose.
If you plan to resell
In the UK, selling on Vinted to make a profit requires registering as a Vinted Pro seller, which is free. Reselling elsewhere has its own rules, fees and taxes: read our guide to buying on Vinted and reselling elsewhere before you spend money.
Frequently asked questions
Which brands sell best on Vinted?
We don't publish a ranking because we have no verifiable public data to support one. Choose brands you can identify and authenticate, and check recent sold prices for the size and condition you would buy.
Can I buy designer items safely on Vinted?
Vinted prohibits counterfeits and asks sellers to show details of branded items, and a confirmed counterfeit is refundable without a return. Check each listing's photos and ask for more. Item Verification is available in some countries but not in the UK on the pages we checked.
Are some categories riskier than others?
Categories where fit, authenticity or condition are hard to judge from photos carry more risk, because Vinted's refund policy doesn't cover items that match their description but don't fit, or minor differences.
How do I follow brands on Vinted?
Vinted's Help Centre says you can personalise your feed from your profile by selecting categories, choosing sizes and following brands. It adds that not every category feed can be personalised yet.
Does VTD BOT recommend brands?
No. VTD BOT watches the searches you create, estimates market value and shows the net cost. The choice of brand or category stays with you.
