Vinted trainers: how to search, check and buy them safely on vinted.co.uk

How do you search for trainers on Vinted?
Vinted's Help Centre says the search bar covers every listing and takes filters and keywords. On the catalogue of vinted.co.uk, viewed without logging in on 25 October 2026, the filters were Category, Size, Brand, Condition, Colour, Price and Material, plus a Sort by menu.
Both Women and Men have a Trainers group under Shoes, and Kids have their own shoe groups.
- Brand, model, one detail. For example adidas samba black. Run common spellings as separate searches (Vinted search tips). The Help Centre pages we read describe no way to exclude words in Vinted's search bar.
- Keep kids' pairs out. A plain search on each site mixed adult and children's pairs (sizes marked baby, toddler, child, junior or youth). Pick the Women or Men category or set the size filter.
- Condition and price. Vinted defines New, Like new, Very good, Good and Satisfactory, and the cards also show New with tags and New without tags. Tick the lowest level you would buy, and set your own ceiling after checking sold prices and the Vinted fee, usually 5% + £0.70 on most items and 8% + £0.30 on children's items.
Which size system should you trust on a used pair?
Cards show sizes in the site's format: numbers such as 7 or 9.5 for adults, and labels such as 8.5 child, 3 junior, 7 toddler or 5 youth for kids, with an EU size on some UK kids' cards.
Titles can mix systems (we saw UK, EU and cm in one title), so trust the size-label photo over the title. Vinted's photo guide asks for it and names the shoe tongue for sneakers.
Do not convert from memory. Nike's UK size chart (checked 25 October 2026) lists US men's, US women's, UK, CM/JP and EU on separate rows, with different numbers for the same foot, and says the cm printed on boxes and labels is not foot length. Ask for a photo of a ruler along the insole and compare it with the brand's chart.
What should the photos and the description show?
Vinted asks sellers for at least three close-ups of different details. For footwear the list is the insole and outsole, the stitching lines, the sizing label, the shoebox or dust bag, and the receipt or price tag. Sellers must show the actual item, not photos they did not take.
- Wear. The outsole and insole show real use, whatever the condition label says.
- Flaws and extras. Vinted's condition guide lists scuffs, marks, stains, holes, missing parts, odours and fading. Missing parts or accessories that the listing did not mention count as significantly not as described, so ask about the box and spare laces.
How do you spot fake trainers on Vinted?
Vinted says all counterfeit items are strictly prohibited. It bans disclaimers such as not sure if authentic and tells buyers to buy branded items only if the seller can reasonably prove authenticity, for example with a receipt, tags, packaging or authenticity codes.
No photo check certifies a pair, and we cite no forum posts or model-by-model tells. Buyers search for phrases like fake jordans vinted, but Vinted publishes no counterfeit rate. To lower the risk:
- Ask for the receipt or order confirmation, personal details covered.
- Compare the inside labels, the tongue label and the sole with the brand's own page for the same model, and search any style code there.
- Ask for a fresh photo of both shoes together in daylight.
Red flags before you press Buy now
- Any request to pay or chat outside Vinted.
- Pressure, such as time limits or threats of cancellation, which Vinted lists as a phishing signal.
- Borrowed photos, or a refusal to show the label and the soles.
- Banned wording, such as inspired by, or a seller unsure the pair is authentic.
- An item the seller does not hold. Vinted bans listings for items that can be ordered.

Does Vinted authenticate trainers?
In the UK, sometimes. Item Verification is an optional paid service on selected listings that meet a minimum price, come from a brand on Vinted's eligible list and sit in clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery or shoes; they show a diamond badge. The buyer adds it at checkout and the seller sends the pair to a Vinted hub, where experts usually check authenticity within 1 to 2 business days. If it fails, the pair goes back and you get a full refund of the service, the Vinted fee and shipping. It checks authenticity, not condition.

What if the pair is not as described or turns out to be fake?
Buyer protection covers purchases made with Buy now; a payment outside Vinted is not covered. You have 2 calendar days to press I have an issue, counted from when Vinted notifies you that the order should have been delivered or seems lost. If you accept the order or let the time run out, the payment goes to the seller.
A wrong size, an unshown flaw, missing accessories and counterfeits all count as significantly not as described. Add photos of the pair, the problem and the outer and inner packaging. A pair that matches its listing but does not fit is not covered, and Vinted says checking the fit is fine but wearing them a lot is not.
For a suspected counterfeit, Vinted's user terms (applicable from 8 October 2026) give the seller 48 hours to prove authenticity when the evidence against it is strong. If they cannot, the transaction is cancelled and you need not return the item. If the evidence is inconclusive, it is cancelled and you return the item at your own cost unless agreed otherwise.

How do you set alerts for trainers?
Vinted's saved searches show a counter of new listings when you open the search bar, and the Help Centre describes no push or email alert for them. A tool that alerts you on matches saves the refreshing:

Can I return trainers that do not fit on Vinted?
Not under the refund policy, which excludes an item that matches its listing but does not fit. You can ask the seller to accept a return, but it is their decision.
