Vinted watches: how to search, check and buy a pre-owned watch safely on vinted.co.uk

You have 2 calendar days after Vinted's delivery notice to report a problem. Where are watches on Vinted, and how do you search?

On vinted.co.uk, viewed without logging in on 28 October 2026, watches sit under Women, then Accessories, then Watches, and under Men, then Accessories, then Watches. Run each search twice. Filters: Category, Size, Brand, Condition, Colour, Price, Material and Sort by.

Size on a watch is a case diameter band in mm, such as 39 to 42 mm, plus One size. The UK Designer menu has a Designer accessories group.

What should you ask the seller before you buy?

Vinted's guidance on photos of branded items has no watch section. The nearest list, for belts, scarves and similar accessories, names engravings, a serial number for luxury brands, the label, the receipt, the original box and the price tag (at least three close-ups in all). For a watch, ask for:

How do you check that a watch is authentic?

Vinted says all counterfeit items are strictly prohibited, even when the seller admits the item is fake. It asks for proof of authenticity on luxury items and hides or deletes listings without it. Wording such as not sure if authentic or inspired by is not allowed.

No photo check can certify a watch, and we cite no forum posts or brand-by-brand tells. To lower the risk:

  1. Compare the photos with the brand's own page for the same model: dial, case shape, crown, clasp.
  2. Check that every photo shows the same watch, and that the reference and serial number match the papers.
  3. On arrival, compare the watch with the photos before you press Everything is OK.

Independent authenticators exist outside Vinted; we have not tested any.

Does Vinted authenticate watches?

Only through Item Verification, an optional paid service with a diamond badge on selected listings. Vinted's page lists clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery and shoes, with a minimum price and an eligible brand list. It does not name watches, so we cannot say whether a given watch qualifies: look for the badge. If it has one, the seller sends the watch to a Vinted hub, where experts usually check authenticity within 1 to 2 business days. A failed item goes back and you get a full refund. The fee is £10 per item, and the check covers authenticity, not condition or whether the watch runs.

What if the watch is not as described or is fake?

Buy now keeps you inside Vinted's refund policy; a payment outside it is not covered. You have 2 calendar days from Vinted's notice that the order should have arrived to press I have an issue, or the payment goes to the seller. Test the watch the day it arrives and keep the packaging.

Vinted's list of significantly not as described items includes a fake, missing parts or accessories, undisclosed damage or flaws, and features that do not work as advertised. A watch that matches its listing but does not suit you is not covered. Add photos of the watch, the issue and the packaging.

In a counterfeit claim, Vinted's user terms (applicable from 8 October 2026) say it may investigate. With strong evidence, the seller has 48 hours to show the watch is authentic. If the evidence is not enough either way, the transaction is cancelled and you return the watch at your own cost unless agreed otherwise.

In the UK, Vinted's buying page gives you 14 days to report an issue on a Pro seller's order.

Can you buy a watch on Vinted to resell it?

Read Vinted's rules first. Its commercial selling page says standard accounts cannot be used for buying or sourcing items and reselling them at a profit, and that selling to make a profit needs a Pro account. See Vinted HMRC and tax UK. This is not tax or legal advice.

How do you set alerts for watches?

Vinted's saved searches show a counter of new listings in the search bar, and they disappear after 6 months if never opened. The Help Centre describes no push or email alert for them.

Frequently asked questions

Are watches on Vinted real?

Some may not be. Vinted bans counterfeits but publishes no figure for how many listings are fake, so ask for the dial, caseback, reference and serial number and the box and papers, and pay only with Buy now.

Does Vinted authenticate watches?

Only through Item Verification, a diamond badge on selected listings. On 28 October 2026 the UK page did not name watches, and the US and Australian pages said the launch date would be communicated.

How long do I have to report a problem with a watch on Vinted?

2 calendar days from Vinted's notice that the order should have arrived, using I have an issue, with photos of the watch, the issue and the packaging.

What if I receive a fake watch from Vinted?

Report it in that window. If the evidence is strong, the seller has 48 hours to show it is authentic, or the transaction is cancelled and you need not return the watch.

Can I return a watch on Vinted if I change my mind?

Not under the refund policy, which excludes an item that matches its listing but does not suit you. You can ask the seller to accept a return, but it is their decision.
