How to make a Vinted monitor: what it takes, what the rules say and the alternative
Making a Vinted monitor means building three parts yourself: something that reads new listings, a filter for your searches, and a way to notify you on Discord or Telegram. It also means hosting it around the clock and repairing it when Vinted changes. Vinted's terms (version applicable from 8 October 2026, checked 26 October 2026) forbid external software tools such as bots and scraping programs unless Vinted allows them. This guide covers the work, the risks and the simpler option, without any code.

What you would have to build
People who search for how to make a Vinted monitor usually expect a weekend project. In practice it is three separate jobs, and only the last one is easy.
- Read new listings. Your program has to look at the public listings for a search, remember which ones it has already shown you, and cope with listings that are edited, sold or deleted. It depends on a website you do not control.
- Filter them. Brand, size, condition, maximum price and words to exclude. A loose filter floods you with noise, so you end up tuning it for weeks.
- Notify you. Send each match to a Discord channel, a Telegram chat or your email.
What a home-made monitor really costs
- An always-on host. A monitor on your laptop stops when you close it. Watching overnight means renting a server, keeping it updated and checking that it still runs.
- Maintenance. Vinted changes its site and app without warning. When that happens, a program that reads the pages can stop working without any error message. You only notice because the alerts have gone quiet, and by then you have missed listings.
- Your time. This is the real cost. Building, testing, hosting, fixing and tuning filters is a job. If your aim is to learn to code, that time is well spent. If your aim is to buy well on Vinted, ask whether it is the best use of it.
Many people start from a project they found on GitHub. That saves the first step, but not the hosting, the repairs or the risks. Read Vinted bot on Discord, Telegram or GitHub before you run anything you did not write.
What Vinted's terms say about bots
We read the vinted.co.uk terms and conditions on 26 October 2026. The page says it is a new version applicable from 8 October 2026. In section 6, the list of things users must not do includes using external software tools, and it names "bots, scraping programs, crawling programs, spiders", unless Vinted authorises, offers or otherwise allows that use.
The same list also bars using external tools that could disrupt the normal operation of the site, and it bars data mining, screen scraping and crawling any part of the site.
The wording does not separate a script you wrote from one you bought or joined. Vinted's terms also list corrective actions, from a warning to blocking a feature or blocking the account temporarily or permanently, and say these should be proportionate. Only Vinted can tell you how it applies its rules in a given case, and this is not legal advice. For the detail, read Is a Vinted bot allowed? and Vinted account banned.
The risks that catch people out
- Giving away your login. Some free tools ask for your Vinted password, a login code or a session cookie. A cookie works like a password: whoever holds it can act as you. A monitor only needs your search criteria.
- Running code you have not read. A script from the internet runs with the same access as you do on your computer. A popular project is not the same as a safe one.
- Leaking your own tokens. A Discord webhook address contains a secret token. Discord's documentation says webhooks need no bot user or authentication, so anyone with the full address can post to your channel. Telegram bots also get a unique token that sits inside the address used to call them (both checked 26 October 2026). Treat these like passwords and never post them in a public repository or chat.
- Paying outside Vinted. Pay through Vinted's own checkout. A seller who pushes you to pay elsewhere is a red flag, whatever tool found the listing.
Free Vinted monitors on Discord: what you get and what you do not
A free Vinted monitor on Discord is a channel where someone else's program posts new listings. It costs nothing, and it is a good way to see what a niche looks like. It has limits, though.
- Everyone sees the same post. If a hundred members read the same channel, a sought-after listing gets opened by many people at once. A shared feed gives you no head start.
- The filters are not yours. A channel covers a whole brand or category, so you scroll past sizes and conditions you will never buy.
- You do not know who runs it. The operator, the way it works and what happens when it breaks are usually unclear. If it asks for your login or sends you off to pay elsewhere, leave.
- It can disappear. Free feeds stop when the person running them loses interest or when Vinted changes something.

Build it, join a free feed or use an alert service?
| Build your own | Free Discord feed | Alert service | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Money | Hosting if you want it on all night | Nothing | A subscription |
| Your time | High: build, test, repair | Low: join and read | Low: set searches |
| Filters | Yours, if you build them | The operator's | Yours |
| When Vinted changes | You fix it | The operator fixes it, or not | The provider fixes it |

The last row matters. Changing the tool does not change Vinted's terms, so check them whichever route you take. Tools that also buy for you work from your logged-in account, which is a different level of risk (see Vinted sniper bot). If you only want to hear about one particular item, Vinted's own features may be enough: it notifies you about new items from members you follow and price drops on favourites (Help Centre, checked 26 October 2026). Saved searches show a counter of new items next to the search when you open it, and Vinted says saved searches disappear after 6 months if you never open them (Help Centre, checked 26 October 2026).
The alternative: alerts without your account
If your goal is to be told about the right listing, not to learn to build software, an alert service does the three jobs for you. The one thing to look for is what it asks of you. A service that works from your search criteria alone does not need your Vinted login, and you keep control of the purchase. Vinted bot alerts explains how those alerts work.
Where VTD BOT helps
VTD BOT is an alert service for Vinted buyers. You save searches with your criteria and get an alert when a new listing matches. Each alert shows an estimated market value from comparable listings and the real cost with the Vinted fee and postage, so you can judge the deal from the alert itself.
- It never connects to your Vinted account, never buys and never messages sellers. You decide and buy yourself.
- It checks vinted.co.uk at regular intervals, not continuously, so an alert can arrive some time after a listing goes live.
- It is an external tool, so Vinted's terms apply to it as to any other. We are independent and not affiliated with Vinted.
- There is no free plan. See the pricing and the features, or the comparison pages for other tools.
Frequently asked questions
How do you make a Vinted monitor?
You build three parts: something that reads new listings, a filter for your search, and a notification to Discord or Telegram. You also need to host it all day and fix it when Vinted changes. Vinted's terms restrict external software tools such as bots and scraping programs unless Vinted allows them, so read them first.
Is there a free Vinted monitor?
Yes, in a few forms. Some Discord servers post new listings for free, and some paid tools offer a limited free plan. Free feeds are shared, so everyone sees the same post, and the filters are not yours. Vinted itself also gives free notifications for followed members and favourites.
Can I get a Vinted bot from GitHub?
Projects exist, but running one means hosting it, repairing it when Vinted changes and trusting code you may not have read. Never give a script your Vinted password or cookie. Vinted's terms still apply to a tool you did not write.
Does a Vinted monitor need my password?
No. A monitor only needs your search criteria. A tool that asks for your password, a login code or a session cookie asks for more than it needs.
Is a Vinted buying bot the same as a monitor?
No. A monitor finds listings and tells you. A buying bot acts from a Vinted account you connect to it, which carries more risk for your account. See the Vinted sniper guide for the difference.
What is a simpler option than building one?
An alert service that works from your search criteria and does not connect to your Vinted account. VTD BOT is one: it alerts you to matching listings, shows the estimated value and real cost, and leaves the purchase to you. It has no free plan.
