How to read this comparison

Each cell comes from the platform's own page, listed under Sources, and was checked on 19 October 2026. Fees and rules change, so use the links before you decide. Where we could not verify something, the table says so instead of guessing. We use no ratings, no review scores and no user counts, because we have no verifiable source for them.

A buyer's example with round numbers

Take an item listed at A$20. On Vinted, the fee is usually A$2.00, so A$22.00 before postage. On Depop, the Marketplace fee is up to 5% of the item price plus up to A$1, which is up to A$2.00 on the same price, excluding taxes and postage. Both then add postage, and both show the exact total at checkout. On eBay, the pages we read describe what sellers pay and not a buyer fee, so check the total in your basket. This is an illustration with round numbers, not a prediction: compare the final total on each platform before you decide.

Deadlines worth knowing

Time limits are where buyers and sellers lose money without noticing. These are the ones we could verify on official pages, and we list nothing we could not read.

We did not collect the equivalent deadlines for Depop, eBay and Poshmark, so we do not quote any.

What the differences mean for a buyer

Three practical consequences follow from the facts above, without ranking anything.

What the differences mean for a reseller

For resellers the first question is not fees but rules. In Australia, Vinted does not let standard accounts buy or source items to resell them at a profit on Vinted, and its user terms describe users as using the services for personal benefit only. That is why the sensible comparison for a reseller is between the platforms where you would sell, which is covered in our guide to buying on Vinted and reselling elsewhere.

Then look at the fee that actually applies to you. On the pages we read, the biggest differences are structural: whether a platform takes a percentage of the sale, whether it charges per order, and whether it counts postage and taxes in the base on which it takes its percentage. Depop's payment processing fee and eBay's final value fee, for example, are both worked out on a total that can include postage and taxes.

Taxes work differently in each country. the ATO publishes guidance on when selling becomes trading or business activity, and we link to it in our resale guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vinted cheaper than Depop or eBay for sellers?

On the pages we read, Vinted charges sellers no commission on sales and charges the buyer a fee. Depop charges sellers no selling fee in Australia but takes payment processing fees, and eBay's seller fees depend on the country, the category and the type of seller. Compare the tables above.

Which platform protects buyers best?

We do not rank protection. Vinted has a refund policy for Buy now orders, Depop has Depop Protection and eBay has the Money Back Guarantee, each with its own conditions and deadlines. Read the linked pages.

Can I resell on Vinted for profit?

No. Vinted Pro is not available in Australia, and Vinted's rules do not allow members to sell as a business or with the goal of making a profit.

Do Depop and Vinted charge buyers a fee?

Yes. Vinted charges a mandatory Vinted fee, and Depop charges a Marketplace fee of up to 5% plus up to one unit of currency, excluding taxes and postage. Both are shown at checkout.

Does VTD BOT work on Depop or eBay?

No. VTD BOT watches Vinted listings. It does not scan Depop, eBay or other platforms.
