How to read this comparison
Each cell comes from the platform's own page, listed under Sources, and was checked on October 19, 2026. Fees and rules change, so use the links before you decide. Where we could not verify something, the table says so instead of guessing. We use no ratings, no review scores and no user counts, because we have no verifiable source for them.
What sellers pay
| Topic | Vinted | Depop | eBay | Poshmark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Selling fee | No commission on sales (the seller receives the item price). Optional Bump is the only seller fee in the price list. | No selling fee for sellers based in the US. Payment processing 3.3% + $0.45 on item price, shipping and taxes. Boosting 12% on Boosted Listings. | Final value fee of 13.6% on the total sale amount up to $7,500 in most categories, plus $0.30 or $0.40 per order. Women's bags 15%. Athletic shoes at $150 or more 8%. | $2.95 on sales under $15. 20% on sales of $15 or more. Extra Texas Seller Fee Tax for sellers in Texas. |
| Listing fee | None stated in the price list. | None stated on the fees page. | 250 free listings a month, then $0.35 each. | None stated on the fee article. |
| Selling for profit | Not allowed in the US: Vinted Pro is not available and members can't sell as a business or to make a profit. | No restriction stated on the fees page. Read Depop's terms. | The US fees page we read does not distinguish private and business sellers. Read eBay's policies. | Not checked. |
US figures. Dollar amounts as published on each page.
What buyers pay and what they get back
| Topic | Vinted | Depop | eBay | Poshmark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fee for the buyer | A mandatory Vinted fee, usually 5% + $0.70, shown in each listing's price breakdown. Vinted's price list says it includes any sales taxes. | Marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, excluding taxes and shipping. Refunded in full if the item is refunded. | Not part of the seller fee page. Buyers see the total at checkout. | Not checked. |
| Cover if something goes wrong | Refund policy for Buy now orders: lost or never shipped, damaged, or significantly not as described. 2 calendar days to report after the delivery notice. | Depop Protection (terms and exclusions apply). | Money Back Guarantee: item did not arrive, is faulty or damaged, or does not match the listing. | Not checked. |
US figures.
A buyer's example with round numbers
Take an item listed at $20. On Vinted, the fee is usually $1.70, so $21.70 before shipping. On Depop, the Marketplace fee is up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, which is up to $2.00 on the same price, excluding taxes and shipping. Both then add shipping, and both show the exact total at checkout. On eBay, the pages we read describe what sellers pay and not a buyer fee, so check the total in your basket. This is an illustration with round numbers, not a prediction: compare the final total on each platform before you decide.
Deadlines worth knowing
Time limits are where buyers and sellers lose money without noticing. These are the ones we could verify on official pages, and we list nothing we could not read.
- Vinted, buyers: 2 calendar days from the notice that the order should have been delivered or seems lost to press I have an issue. Returns must be sent within 5 business days of the seller requesting them.
- Vinted, sellers: 5 business days after an order to send the item, otherwise the order is canceled automatically. A seller can ask the buyer to extend the deadline by 3 or 5 business days.
- Facebook Marketplace, under Meta's Seller Protection Policy: sellers must send orders within seven calendar days or the order may be canceled automatically. Buyers must first contact the seller within three days of delivery, and file a claim with Meta within 7 days of delivery. This applies to orders processed through Marketplace checkout.
We did not collect the equivalent deadlines for Depop, eBay and Poshmark, so we do not quote any.
What the differences mean for a buyer
Three practical consequences follow from the facts above, without ranking anything.
- Compare totals, not prices. Vinted and Depop add a buyer fee on top of the item price, and both add shipping. A lower sticker price can still cost more at checkout, so read the order summary, not only the listing.
- Report problems fast. On Vinted you have 2 calendar days from the notice that an order was delivered (or seems lost) to press I have an issue. Accepting the order or letting the window pass releases the payment to the seller.
- Pay inside the platform. Vinted's refund policy applies to purchases made with the Buy now button, and a payment made outside the system is not covered.
In the US, Vinted collects sales tax in a list of states and adds it to the order, so the same item can cost a different amount depending on where it is delivered.
What the differences mean for a reseller
For resellers the first question is not fees but rules. In the US, Vinted does not let standard accounts buy or source items to resell them at a profit on Vinted, and its user terms describe users as using the services for personal benefit only. That is why the sensible comparison for a reseller is between the platforms where you would sell, which is covered in our guide to buying on Vinted and reselling elsewhere.
Then look at the fee that actually applies to you. On the pages we read, the biggest differences are structural: whether a platform takes a percentage of the sale, whether it charges per order, and whether it counts shipping and taxes in the base on which it takes its percentage. Depop's payment processing fee and eBay's final value fee, for example, are both worked out on a total that can include shipping and taxes.
Taxes work differently in each country. the IRS publishes guidance on when selling becomes trading or business activity, and we link to it in our resale guide.
What we could not verify
- Payout speed, dispute outcomes and customer service quality. We found no verifiable public data, so we say nothing about them.
- Buyer-side terms for Poshmark, which we did not check, so the US table says so.
- The share of listings on each platform that sell. Nobody publishes it in a form we can verify.

Frequently asked questions
Is Vinted cheaper than Depop or eBay for sellers?
On the pages we read, Vinted charges sellers no commission on sales and charges the buyer a fee. Depop charges sellers no selling fee in the US but takes payment processing fees, and eBay's seller fees depend on the country, the category and the type of seller. Compare the tables above.
Which platform protects buyers best?
We do not rank protection. Vinted has a refund policy for Buy now orders, Depop has Depop Protection and eBay has the Money Back Guarantee, each with its own conditions and deadlines. Read the linked pages.
Can I resell on Vinted for profit?
No. Vinted Pro is not available in the US, and Vinted's rules do not allow members to sell as a business or with the goal of making a profit.
Do Depop and Vinted charge buyers a fee?
Yes. Vinted charges a mandatory Vinted fee, and Depop charges a Marketplace fee of up to 5% plus up to one unit of currency, excluding taxes and shipping. Both are shown at checkout.
Does VTD BOT work on Depop or eBay?
No. VTD BOT watches Vinted listings. It does not scan Depop, eBay or other platforms.
