Vinted sniper: what it means, what is realistic and what it will not do

Sniper covers everything from an alert on precise rules to a bot that buys for you. Those are very different tools with very different risks. This guide separates them, explains what is realistic on vinted.com.au, and says plainly what the VTD BOT Sniper does and does not do.

What people mean by a Vinted sniper

Search results mix all three. The difference that matters is who acts: you, or software holding your login.

What is realistic

Be sceptical of any promise to beat other buyers. On Vinted, an item is not yours until the purchase is completed with the Buy now button. Vinted's Help Centre says an offer is not binding even when the seller accepts it, and that the item stays available to other members until you press Buy now. No tool can hold an item for you by alerting you. What an alert can do is tell you that a matching listing exists, which you would otherwise find by refreshing the app.

Why auto-buy is the risky kind

Tools that act inside your account need your login details or your session. Vinted's terms ask you to keep your login details and password confidential. They also list, among the things users must not do, the use of external software tools including bots, unless Vinted authorises or allows that use. Vinted says that when activity breaks its terms it may take corrective actions, from a warning to blocking a feature or the account.

We cannot tell you what Vinted will do in a given case. We can tell you that handing a tool your login removes your own safeguard. The wording is covered in Is a Vinted bot allowed?

What the VTD BOT Sniper does

You set rules: a model, a maximum price and a minimum score. When the radar finds a listing that matches, the Sniper flags it with an alert, at the same pace as your other alerts, on the seller profile of your choice. That is all it does.

The Sniper is included in the Pro plan. Starter and Plus have alerts without it. See the pricing and the features.

Claims to question

A useful test: ask what the tool does on your account on your behalf. If the answer is nothing, the risk to your account is lower, although the terms still apply to how you use Vinted. If the answer is anything at all, read the terms first.

What happens after the alert

An alert is the start of a decision, not a purchase. Open the listing, read the description and look at the photos. Check the size and the condition against your rule, and compare the total with your ceiling. If it still looks right, make an offer or press Buy now yourself. Vinted lets buyers send up to 25 offers a day, and offers can be up to 40% below the original price, so an alert gives you time to choose a sensible one, not a reason to rush.

If you plan offers, see our message templates for offers.

Setting up a rule worth acting on

  1. Pick one model, not a whole brand.
  2. Set a maximum price that includes the Vinted fee and postage. In Australia the fee is usually 5% + A$1.20 according to the price list, and 5% + A$1.00 on the listings we checked, so work back from your ceiling (see Vinted fees in Australia).
  3. Set a minimum score so that only plausible bargains reach you.
  4. Decide your offer in advance, and check size and condition in the photos before you act. See how to check what an item is worth.
  5. Buy with the Buy now button. Vinted's refund policy applies to purchases made that way, and Vinted says it cannot support payments made outside its system.

A note for buyers in Australia

Vinted Pro is not available in Australia, and Vinted's rules say members can't buy items to resell them at a profit. A sniper is for buying what you want at a fair price. We do not describe, and do not recommend, reselling on Vinted for profit in Australia.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Vinted sniper?

The word is used for three different things: an alert with precise rules, software that buys or offers for you after logging in as you, and a shared feed of new listings in a chat app. VTD BOT's Sniper is the first kind only.

Does VTD BOT buy items automatically?

No. The Sniper detects and alerts, nothing more. VTD BOT never buys for you, never messages sellers for you and never connects to your Vinted account.

Is the VTD BOT Sniper instant?

No tool should promise that. The radar checks vinted.com.au at regular intervals rather than continuously, so an alert can arrive some time after a listing is published.

Can a Vinted sniper get my account banned?

We cannot promise either way. Vinted's terms restrict external software tools such as bots unless Vinted allows them, and Vinted may take corrective actions. VTD BOT never connects to your account, but you remain responsible for following Vinted's rules.

Is there a free Vinted sniper?

Free feeds and scripts exist on Discord, Telegram and GitHub, with varying reliability and risk (see our comparison of free bots and dedicated tools). VTD BOT's Sniper is part of the Pro plan, and Starter and Plus include alerts without it.

Should I give a sniper my Vinted login?

No. An alert does not need your account. A tool that asks for your password, a login code or a session is asking for more than it needs, and Vinted's terms ask you to keep your login details confidential.

Which plan includes the Sniper?

The Sniper is included in the Pro plan. Starter and Plus include alerts for your saved searches without it.
